I’ve never considered myself a perfectionist — in fact, I know I am not one; but the amount of time I’ve spent formatting my novel is somewhat staggering. I’ve several blank pages at the beginning of the novel — you know the ones, those pages that have nothing to do with anything, that seem to be placeholders for guests who decided not to come to your dinner party. I’ve tried — to no avail — to rid my book of those two blank pieces of paper.
I’m not a perfectionist, because I finally surrendered to them. Every time I managed to delete them from the file, the page numbers then were off by two for the remainder of the novel.
I’d rather have two lovely white sheets of paper between the copyright notice and the first chapter than page numbers that are wacky.
